The process of upgrading a computer room
Published on February 8, 2007 By StumpMan In Personal Computing
Everything has been moving pretty fast since I last wrote about the Datacenter project.

Several vendors came on site, and gave us recommendations for the update.

AC will be fixed and working in the new room tomorrow. Monday the wiring for 240V single phase will be completed.

I've gotten quotes from several manufacturers, and I have decided on four closed racks, and one open face rack. The servers will be enclosed, and the patch panel will be open.

Also, a complete re-wiring of our office, pulling cat6e cabling, and cat3 for the phone system.

The next step will be the wiring. Once that is complete, we can move forward with the actual relocation itself.

Oh, and I haven't even started on moving all the boxes out of the room so I can start moving other computer equipment in there. I see next weekend as a moving weekend, getting as much junk out and in the dumpster, and boxes of paper moved downstairs.
